Jacks or Better

Everybody has a theory as to the origin of poker. Suppositions range from China to India, from Persia to Egypt and thence across the Mediterranean to Europe. Regardless of its ancestral journey, there is strong evidence that it came to America with the French settlers in New Orleans who played a card game called poque involving bluffing and rounds of betting. This poque deck may have been the first to use suits of spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs.

Poque migrated up the Mississippi and Ohio rivers by boat where it met English-bred railroad men – who probably corrupted the name to poker and carried it back to the eastern cities during the U.S. Civil War. Then, in the late 1860's and early 1870's, Civil War veterans brought poker westward over the Continental Divide until it became a fixture in every hotel parlor and saloon in America's Wild West.

As a widely popularized game, poker developed many variations including stud, draw and straight. The introduction of wild cards around 1875 added another level of intrigue and excitement. Today, poker is probably the most widely played card game in the world. It ranks as one of the top sporting events (in prize money if not publicity), with many tournaments culminating in the grand stakes of the World Series of Poker.

With the advent of computer chips in the 2025's, Video Poker came on the scene. It combines the elements of draw poker with the look-and-feel of slot machines. A key difference between Video Poker and regular poker is that you're not playing against other players (so there is no need to bluff). Instead, you're trying to build the best hand you can to win the highest odds. Because it's a fast-paced game involving both skill and luck, Video Poker has millions of enthusiasts around the globe who enjoy this exciting, engaging pastime.

Game Play:

To play a Video Poker game, just drop Casino chips into the INSERT COINS slot and click the DEAL button. The machine will deal five cards to the player, all face up. Since this is draw poker, you can choose to hold or discard any of the five cards. Your goal is make the best hand you can between your original deal and your potential draw. You must get a pair of Jacks or better to be in the money.

To hold or keep a card, click the HOLD button under that card or simply click the card. A pin will appear to indicate that the card is to be held, and the Hold button changes to RELEASE. If you change your mind, click Release or (click the card). After cards-to-hold are selected, click DRAW to draw new cards for those which are to be discarded (i.e. not held).

These new drawn cards plus the hold cards from the first deal constitute your final hand (always a total of 5 cards), and the game pays according to the chart at the top of the machine by increasing your coin credits (shown as a CREDIT meter on the machine face).

You can drop as many Casino chips as you wish into the Insert Coins slot. Putting chips in the slot increases your coin credits based on the coin setting for the machine and the dollar value of the chips. The Video Poker machine can be set to play $0.25 coins, $1 coins or $5 coins. If you put a $10 Casino chip in a machine with a $1 coin setting, your coin credits will be 10. If you change the coin setting to $0.25, your coin credits will increase to 40 (for a $10 chip).

The number of coins bet per game can range from a minimum of 1 coin to a maximum of 5 coins. The setting for the number of coins bet per game is shown in the COINS BET meter. The machine sets Coins Bet to 1 by default. You can increase your bet by clicking the BET ONE button. Each time you click BET ONE, you will increase your bet by one chip. (If you click on Bet One when Coins Bet is 5, it will wrap back to 1).

To bet the maximum five chips with a single click, just click BET MAX. If the machine is set to a $5 coin value and a Coins Bet of 5, you will be betting $25 per hand. Once you set the Coins Bet number, the machine will use this value for each hand until you change it to another value.

Payouts are as shown in the chart at the top of the machine. The payout table has rows containing the payout amounts for various rankings of poker hands (see listing below). Each rank has 5 possible payout amounts, depending on the number in the Coins Bet meter. As you change the Coins Bet value, the vertical column of payout amounts for that Coins Bet number will be highlighted.

For example, if you play 1 coin in a $5 Video Poker machine and come up with a Royal Flush, you will be credited with 250 coins which represent a winning of $1,250. If you had bet the maximum of 5 coins and came up with a Royal Flush, you would be credited with 4000 coins — representing a winning of $20,000 on a $5 machine!!

When you are finished playing, you can click COINS OUT to exchange your coin Credits for Casino chips. As the coins come out of the machine, the number of Credits will be multiplied by the coin value setting ($0.25, $1 or $5) and the resulting amount will be added to your Casino Account balance.

Royal Flush
The highest ranking hand possible. An Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit. Starting with an Ace, all five cards are in sequence and in a common suit.

Straight Flush
Five cards both in sequence and common suit, but not starting with an Ace.

Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same rank.

Full House
Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.

Flush
Five cards of same suit.

Straight
Five cards in sequence (Aces may be used high or low).

Three of a Kind
Three cards of same rank.

Deuces Wild

Just as poker began dominating card tables in America's Wild West, some enterprising enthusiasts added the concept of "wild" cards. The term may have derived from the famous wildcats, or mountain lions, that would occasionally come down from the hills at night to add a good deal of excitement to a mining camp.

There's plenty of excitement in our Deuces Wild Video Poker game. It's played like regular Video Poker, but the Deuces ("2"s) are wild, meaning they can take on the value of any other card to give you a stronger hand. With a Wild Deuce, you can turn a Pair into Three-of-a-Kind, or Two Pair into a Full House. It's easy, it's fun – and, with a wildcard in your hand, there's always plenty of excitement!

To Play

1. Set Coin Value. Select the coin value for the Video Poker machine by clicking one of three buttons labeled "25¢", "$1" and "$5" that appear in the lower right-center of the control panel. This determines whether you are paying 25 cents, one dollar or five dollars for each coin you are betting in the game.

2. Insert Coins. Add money to the Video Poker machine by clicking on the Casino chips to drop them in the coin slot. As you add Casino chips, the coin Credit meter will increment according to the coin value setting.

3. Set Coins Bet. Choose how many coins you want to bet on each hand. You can bet up to 5 coins per hand. The Bet One button increases the coins bet by one each time you click it. Bet Max adjusts it to the maximum of 5 coins per hand. The number of coins bet is shown in the Coins Bet meter and indicated by the highlighted column of the payout table.

4. Click Deal to Start. This deals five cards to you.

5. Hold Cards. Click on those cards you want to hold. Those not marked by a Hold Pin will be discarded and replaced on the draw.

6. Click Draw. Those cards not held will be replaced with new cards from the deck. The resulting hand is matched against the payout table and your bet is settled. Any wildcards showing will be used to make the highest hand possible.

7. Click Deal to Play Again. The deck will be reshuffled and you'll be dealt a new hand.

Game Play:

When the DEAL button is clicked, the machine will deal five cards, all face up. Since this is draw poker, you can chose to hold or discard any of the five cards. Your goal is make the best hand you can between your original deal and your potential draw. Any Deuces you get are wild, so they can help you make a better hand.

Each rank has 5 possible payout amounts, depending on the number in the Coins Bet meter. As you change the Coins Bet value, the vertical column of payout amounts for that Coins Bet number will be highlighted.

For example, if you play 1 coin in a $5 Video Poker machine and come up with a Natural Royal Flush, you will be credited with 250 coins which represent a winning of $1,250. If you had bet the maximum of 5 coins and came up with a Natural Royal Flush, you would be credited with 4000 coins – representing a winning of $20,000 on a $5 machine!!

Ranking of Hands for Deuces Wild

Natural Royal Flush
The highest ranking hand possible. Starting with an Ace, all five cards are in sequence and in a common suit. A "natural" hand is one formed without using any wildcards. So a Natural Royal Flush is an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit without using any wildcards.

Four Deuces

Wild Royal Flush
A hand constituting an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit, where at least one of the five cards is a Deuce.

Five of a Kind
Five cards of the same rank, where at least one of the five is a Deuce.

Straight Flush
Five cards both in sequence and common suit, but not starting with an Ace. Use of wildcards is permitted.

Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same rank. One or more of the four can be a Deuce.

Full House
Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank. One or more of either rank can be a Deuce.

Flush
Five cards of same suit.

Straight
Five cards in sequence (Aces may be used high or low), one or more can be a Deuce.

Three of a Kind
Three cards of same rank. One or two of the three can be a Deuce.

Multi-Hand Video Poker

Match winning combinations of hand ranks in any hand to win. Click 'Paytable' to see the payouts for each combination.

You get 5 cards face up on the deal and can choose to hold or discard any of them, then draw from the deck for your discards to make your best 5-card poker hand. With multi-hand versions, each hand in a game gets the same 5-card deal and hold cards, but then each hand will draw independently from its own deck, so you'll have many chances to draw a winning hand.

How to Play

• Select the Coin Value and # Coins bet per hand to establish your Total Bet for each game.

• Click Deal to receive a 5-card poker hand face up.

• Click on any Card to hold it. All unmarked cards will be discarded. Click on a marked card again to unmark it.

• Click Draw to discard your unmarked cards and draw replacement cards for each hand.

As each hand draws from its deck, the resulting hand will be displayed along with the amount of coins paid for any winning combination according to the Paytable, based on the number of coins bet per hand.

The Payout display shows the total amount of chips paid to your account balance for all winning hands in the game.

Aces & Eights is a form of Jacks or Better with a bonus given to certain 4-of-a-Kind hands. In regular Jacks or Better, 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 coins per coin bet. Aces & Eights pays 80 coins on hands with 4 Aces or 4 Eights. Get an Ace kicker with the Eights or an Eight kicker with the Aces, and the payout doubles to 160 coins!

Aces & Faces is another form of Jacks or Better with a bonus given to certain 4-of-a-Kind hands. In regular Jacks or Better, 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 per coin. Aces & Faces pays 40 on 4-of-Kind hands in Jacks, Queens and Kings. Get four Aces, and the payout is doubled to 80 per coin.

All-American Poker is a variation of Jacks or Better where a 4x bonus is given to Straight Flush hands (200 coins per coin bet instead of the usual 50), and the payouts for a Full House, a Flush and a Straight are made equal. Because a Straight is easier to get than a Flush or Full House, a good strategy is to hold those cards most likely to make Straight or a Straight Flush.

Bonus Deuces is a form of Deuces Wild with a bonus given to certain 5-of-a-Kind hands. Just as in Deuces Wild, all 2s are wildcards in Bonus Deuces and a hand with all four Deuces pays 200 coins per coin bet. In regular Deuces Wild, a 5-of-a-Kind hand pays 16 coins. But here there is a 4-coin bonus for hand ranks 6 through King, so the payout is 20. For ranks 3 through 5, the payout doubles to 40, and with Aces it doubles again to 80! Get all 4 Aces with a Deuce kicker, and the payout leaps to 400 coins!

Bonus Flush is a form of Jacks or Better with a bonus given to hands where all five cards are of the same suit (a Flush hand). Normally, a flush hand pays 6 coins per coin bet, but here the payout is doubled to 12 coins.

Bonus Full House is a form of Jacks or Better with a bonus given to hands containing a 3-of-a-Kind and a Pair (a Full House). Normally, a Full House pays 9 coins per coin bet, but here the payout is more than doubled to 20 coins.

Bonus Poker pays a bonus on certain Four-of-a-Kind hands. Normally, Four-of-a-Kind pays 25 per coin, but with Bonus Poker it pays 40 per coin on four 2s, four 3s and four 4s. Get four Aces, and the payout zooms to 200 per coin!

Bonus Poker Deluxe is another form of Jacks or Better with a bonus given to 4-of-a-Kind hands. In regular Jacks or Better, 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 per coin. Regular Bonus Poker pays 40 and Double Bonus Poker pays 80 on 4-of-a-Kind hands in Twos, Threes and Fours. Bonus Poker Deluxe pays 80 on all 4-of-a-Kind hands (Deuces through Aces).

Crazy 8s is an exciting game of draw poker where you only need a pair of Jacks or Better to win, but if you get four 8s in a hand, you win a bonus of 200 per coin bet over a normal 4-of-a-Kind payout. Get four 8s and an Ace, and the bonus jumps to 350. That's crazy!

Deuces & Joker Wild combines Deuces Wild with Joker Poker for more exciting Video Poker action. This game uses a 53-card deck with one Joker. The Joker and all four 2s (deuces) are wildcards, meaning they can act as any other card in the deck. You need a 3-of-a-Kind or better to win, but with five cards wild in rank and suit, it's easier to draw winning combinations.

Deuces Wild is a fun game of draw poker where all 2's ('deuces') are wildcards, meaning they can act as any other card in the deck. You need a 3-of-a-Kind or better to win, but Deuces are wild in both rank and suit to make it easier to draw a winning combination.

Double Bonus Poker is a form of Jacks or Better similar to Bonus Poker, but with a double bonus given to 4-of-a-Kind hands in Twos, Threes and Fours. In regular Jacks or Better, these 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 per coin, but where Bonus Poker pays 40, Double Bonus Poker pays 80!

Double-Double Aces & Faces is another form of Jacks or Better with a double-double bonus given to certain 4-of-a-Kind hands. A regular 4-of-a-Kind hand (2-10) is doubled to 50 coins. Next a Jack, Queen or King 4-of-a-Kind with 2-10 kickers pays 80 and then gets doubled again to 160 if the kicker is another face card (J, Q, K or A). Four Aces with a 2-10 kicker also pays a double-bonus of 160, but when the kicker is a face card (J, Q or K), the payout balloons to a double-double bonus of 320!

Double Double Bonus is a form of Jacks or Better similar to Double Bonus Poker, but with a double-double bonus given to certain 4-of-a-Kind hands in Twos, Threes and Fours. In regular Jacks or Better, these 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 per coin, but where Double Bonus Poker pays 80, Double Double Bonus Poker pays 160 when the kicker (5th card) is Ace through Four. Get four Aces with a Two, Three or Four kicker, and the payout leaps to 400 per coin!

Double Joker Poker uses a 54-card deck with two Jokers as wildcards, meaning they can serve as any other card in the deck. Winning hand ranks start at two pair.

Eights Wild is a similar to Deuces Wild, except that the 8s are wild rather than the 2s. As in Deuces Wild, you need a 3-of-a-Kind or better to win, but 8s are wild in both rank and suit to make it easier to draw a winning combination.

Five Aces uses a special 53-card deck that includes an extra Ace (with a suit of "star"). This extra Ace can help make Ace pairs, 3-of-a-Kind, 4-of-a-Kind and especially 5 Aces hands. It can also serve as an Ace to complete normal straights (either A-K-Q-J-10 or 5-4-3-2-A), but it won't make Flush or Straight Flush hands since for those you still need five cards of the same suit. The top prize of 6000 coins can be worth as much as $150,000.00 on some Five Aces machines.

Jacks or Better is a classic game of draw poker where you only need a Pair of Jacks or better to win.

Joker Poker uses a 53-card deck with one Joker as a wildcard, meaning it can serve as any other card in the deck. Winning hand ranks start at a pair of Aces.

Loose Deuces is just like Deuces Wild, where all the Deuces (2s) are wildcards and can serve as any other card in the deck. In standard Video Poker, a 4-of-a-Kind hand pays just 25 coins per coin bet, and with Deuces Wild the payout for four 2s is bumped to 200 coins. But with Loose Deuces, a hand with all four Deuces pays a whopping 500 coins per coin bet. So the payout on those Deuces is very loose indeed!

One-Eyed Jacks are the Jack of Hearts and the Jack of Spades, so named because the face is in profile and only shows one eye. In this game these two cards are wild in both suit and rank, meaning they can serve as any other card to help make a winning combination. The Jack of Diamonds and the Jack of Clubs are not wild, they must play according to their rank and suit.

Super-Aces Bonus Poker is a form of Bonus Poker except that Four Aces hands in Super-Aces Bonus carry a substantial increase in payout. In Bonus Poker, Four Aces pay 200 per coin bet, but Super-Aces Bonus doubles that to an outstanding 400 coins per coin bet, or 16x more than 4-of-a-Kind hands in regular Video Poker! This is 150 coins higher than Royal Flush hands for 1 to 4 coins per hand bets. Royal Flush hands carry a bonus payout of 4,000 when a 5 coin bet is made.

Super-Double Bonus is a form of Jacks or Better similar to Double Bonus Poker, but with a bonus, double-bonus or super-bonus given to all 4-of-a-Kind hands. In regular Jacks or Better, 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 coins per coin bet. In Super-Double Bonus, regular (5-10) 4-of-a-Kind payouts are doubled to 50 coins, low rank (2-4) 4-of-a-Kind hands pay a super 80 coins, face-card (J-K) fours pay a big bonus of 120 coins and four Aces pay a super-double bonus of 160 coins!

Tens or Better takes the classic game of Jacks or Better draw poker and makes it easier to get a winning hand. A pair of Tens or better will do the trick!

Triple Bonus Poker is a form of Jacks or Better similar to Bonus Poker and Double Bonus Poker, but with a triple bonus payout given to 4-of-a-Kind hands in ranks 2 through 4. Normally, 4-of-a-Kind hands pay 25 coins per coin bet, but where Bonus Poker pays 40 and Double Bonus pays 80, Triple bonus pays 120. Get 4 Aces and the payout doubles again to 240!

Triple Double Bonus Poker is a form of Triple Bonus Poker with two additional regular payout combinations. There is one extra payout combination for 4-of-a-Kind hands as well as for Four Aces hands. There are also two top payout combinations in Triple Double Bonus Poker. In addition to the standard top payout of 4,000 for a Royal Flush hand on a 5 coin bet, a Four Aces hand with a kicker of 2 through 4 will also pay 4,000 on a 5 coin bet. The top prize of 4,000 coins could be worth as much as $100,000 in some Triple Double Bonus Poker machines.

Progressive Jacks or Better is similar to standard Jacks or Better (a classic game of draw poker where you only need a Pair of Jacks or better to win), but with a progressive jackpot added for a chance to win even bigger prizes.

Progressive Jackpot

• A portion of each wager is added to the progressive jackpot.

• The Jackpot display shows the amount available in the progressive jackpot.

• To be eligible for the jackpot, you must bet 5 coins per hand.

• To win the jackpot, you must receive a sequential Royal Flush in Spades on the initial Deal, in either ascending (10-J-Q-K-A) or descending (A-K-Q-J-10) order.

• Receiving a sequential Royal Flush on the Draw does not qualify for the progressive jackpot and instead pays only the regular Royal Flush prize per the paytable.

Progressive Deuces Wild
